Stadium Journey discovered what University of Minnesota Duluth fans have known all along -- that AMSOIL Arena is one great hockey venue!
The monthly web site magazine, which focuses on rating stadium experiences from around the world, releasedÂ
its 2016 list of the best stadium experiences for the United States and Canada, and ranked AMSOIL Arena 58th overall and second for college hockey. The home of Bulldog men's and women's hockey since the midpoint of the 2010-11 season, the 6,756-seat AMSOIL Arena received a perfect five stars from Stadium Journey for atmosphere, neighborhood, fans, and return on investment, while receiving four stars for food/beverage and access.
Of the 60 college hockey arenas, AMSOIL Arena was topped only by Mariucci Arena on the campus of the University of Minnesota. AMSOIL Arena overall received 4.4 out of five stars, tied for the most of any collegiate arena.
The Stadium Journey's extensive review, which can be foundÂ
here, ends with this concluding statement:
"Drive on I-35 near downtown Duluth and it's almost impossible to ignore AMSOIL Arena, the hockey venue that's served as home to the University of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs since 2010. Set near the shoreline of Lake Superior with Duluth's instantly recognizable Aerial Lift Bridge within site, the stadium features a capacity of 6,726 and is part of the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center Complex."
"Every time the Bulldogs play at AMSOIL, the arena becomes the center of excitement in this quintessential Minnesota city. The passion for hockey in Duluth can't be emphasized enough and in no way is it better represented in the state than by the fans who show up at AMSOIL to cheer on their Bulldogs each and every game."
