The University of Minnesota Duluth launched its 2017-18 indoor track and field season on Saturday by making the six-block trek west to the College of St. Scholastica for The Opener and came away eight individual titles and one relay championship.
Junior
Danielle Kohlwey was responsible for a trio of those conquests as she placed first in the 200-meter dash (25.22) and 60-meter hurdles (8.59) and teamed up with junior
Allie Stalboerger, sophomore
Paige DuBois and freshman
Isabelle Brezinka to win the 4 x 400-meter relay (4:01.81). Kohlwey's times in bith the 200-meter dash and 60-meter dash were provisional NCAA II indoor qualifying efforts. Joining them in the winner's circle was DuBois (2:20.52 in the 800-meter run), senior
Katherine Hawkinson (18'-03.25" in the long jump and 31'-0" in the triple jump) senior
Rachelle LeBlanc (11'-05.75" in the pole vault), freshman
Rhianna Rinke (5:18.48 in the mile run), and freshman
Alexandra Headley (40-05.50" in the shot put).
The Bulldogs won't return to action until Jan. 6 when they pay a visit to Minneapolis for the University of Minnesota Open on Jan. 6.
