After starting its four-game road trip with a victory over Minnesota State University-Mankato, the University of Minnesota Duluth hasn't been able to find the win column since. In their third straight Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference loss, the Bulldogs fell 65-51 to the University of Mary Marauders. Earlier in the season, UMD got the better of U-Mary, beating them 85-73.
UMD (13-11; 11-9 NSIC) shot a mere 1-of-15 (6.7 percent) from the floor for just three points in the second quarter against U-Mary (13-15; 8-12 NSIC) Saturday afternoon.
Despite the poor shooting performance in the first half by the Bulldogs, they would trail just 26-20 going into the half. Senior forward
Taylor Meyer paced UMD in the first 20 minutes of play with seven points on 2-of-8 shooting, four rebounds and a pair of assists.
Collectively, the Bulldogs shot a season-low 29.7 percent on 19-of-64 shooting from the floor. Just one day after tying a season-high 12 made three-pointers, UMD garnered three buckets from beyond the arc against U-Mary; all of which came in the second half. Sophomore guard
Sammy Kozlowski led all scorers with 19 points on 8-of-21 shooting. Kozlowski also added four steals and a pair of rebounds and assists to her stat sheet.
Four different Marauders would reach double-digit points in the game, including senior forward Hannah Larson, junior guard Dani Williams, and freshman forwards Gabbie Bohl and Cassie Askvig. Bohl shot just 1-of-11 but would go 15-of-18 at the line. Larson garnered her sixth double-double of the season with 17 points and 12 boards.
With just two games remaining in the regular season, UMD will finish off a home stand starting on Friday (Feb. 17) against Northern State (18-6; 14-6 NSIC). The Bulldogs currently sit at third in the NSIC North; two games ahead of the St. Cloud State Huskies.
