UMD UNABLE TO KEEP PACE WITH CONCORDIA'S LIGHTS-OUT OFFENSE

Freshman guard Logan Rohrscheib scored a career-high 26 points for the University of Minnesota Duluth, but it was the Concordia University-St. Paul offense that stood out Saturday evening in St. Paul, Minn. The Golden Bears rode a 59.3 shooting percentage to take down the Bulldogs, 95-85.

To notch his 26 points -- which was also the most of any Bulldog in 2016-17 -- Rohrscheib converted on 7-of-13 from the floor and 5-of-9 from the three-point line, along with seven made free throws. Freshman forward Luke Harris picked up 16 points of his own, while Jake Wilson and Cody Tomlinson continued to be reliable scoring options for UMD, scoring 14 and 12 points respectively.

The Bulldogs shot a respectable 46.4 percent from the field, but it was no match for a Golden Bear squad which converted on 32-of-54 en route to their highest point output of the season. Senior guard Diallo Powell scored a game-high 27 points for Concordia.

Neither team had any problem scoring in the opening half, with the teams combining to score 93 points. UMD shot a shade over 50 percent (14-for-27), while the Golden Bears shot 65.5 percent (19-for-29) through the first half. The Bulldogs held an early 7-3 lead following a Rohrscheib three-pointer with 17:25 to play, but Concordia jumped in front just minutes later and would hold onto that lead the remainder of the night.

Facing a 50-43 deficit to begin the second half, UMD would allow the Golden Bears to score 11 of 14 points to open the second half. Concordia continued to build upon its lead, extending it to as much as 17 points on two occasions. Down the stretch, the Bulldogs pushed to within 10 points, but wound up on the losing side of things with a 95-85 final score.

UMD will return to action next weekend with a pair of road games, beginning with Minot State University on Friday night.
