Connor Behm had a busy -- and productive -- day at the 17th annual Drake Alternative meet on Saturday in St. Peter, Minn.
The University of Minnesota Duluth junior team captain placed first in the 200-meter dash, was part of UMD's title-winning 4 x 100 relay unit and as well as its 4 x 400 relay team that placed second. Behm prevailed in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.33 to shade teammate and fellow junior
Austin Carlson (22.36). He teamed with freshmen
Sam Wiechman and
Kelvin Kwarteng and junior
Nick Beattie to claim the 4 x 100 relay crown (43.28) and with Wiechman, Carlson and sophomore
Ryan Tolkinen in the 4 x 400 relay event (3:25.86).
Joining Behm in the winner's circle for UMD was senior
Drew Johnson in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (9:39.43) and sophomore
Andrew Lind in the high jump (5'-10.75"). Beattie (11.15 in the 100-meter dash), Tolkinen (51.25 in the 400-meter dash and 20'-03.00" in the long jump) and freshman
Bradford Owens (159'-10" in the javelin throw) all posted runnerup finishes while junior
Clinton Treichel (49'-09.75" in the shot put), senior
Ben Hanson (1:57.35 in the 800-meter run), freshman
Wyatt Midtvedt (4:10.73 in the 1,500 meter run), junior
Logan Rubeck (56.23 in the 400-meter hurdles), sophomore
Chris Timm (13'-10.50" in the pole vault) and sophomore
Garret Schleis (19'-11.50" in the long jump) all placed third in their respective events.
The Bulldogs will next compete as a team at the Meet of the Unsaintly this Friday and Saturday (May 5-6) on the campus of Hamline University.
