Three months ago, she landed the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Indoor Track Athlete of the Year award, and today
Emi Trost made it a clean sweep for 2016-17 by being voted the NSIC Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year.
The University of Minnesota Duluth junior All-American also kept that honor in the Bulldog family as last year's outdoor recipient was teammate and current senior
Breanna Colbenson.
This past weekend in St. Paul, Minn., Trost captured a pair of individual titles at the NSIC Indoor Track and Field Championship, prevailing in the 1,500-meter (4:13.51) and 800-meter runs (2:04.62) and doing so in both school and conference record times
. Each of those clockings are also the second fastest marks turned in by any NCAA II runner in the country at the moment. Among her other numerous highlights during the 2017 outdoor season was becoming the first female in the 108-year history of the Drake Relays to finish first in 1,500-meter and 800-meter races in the same year.
Trost will accompany two other Bulldogs -- Colbenson and sophomore
Danielle Kohlwey -- to Bradenton, Fla., next week (May 25-27) for the NCAA II Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
