Dylan Samberg, the reigning Reed Larson Award winner (Minnesota high school senior defenseman of the year), has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend and play hockey for the University of Minnesota Duluth in 2017-18
The 6-3, 190-pound Hermantown, Minn., native joins defensemen Matt Anderson (Green Bay Gamblers/United States Hockey League), Mikey Anderson (Waterloo Black Hawks/USHL) and Scott Perunovich (Cedar Rapids RoughRiders/USHL) and forwards Kobe Roth (Des Moines Buccaneers) and Nick Swaney (Waterloo Black Hawks) -- in UMD's 2017-18 recruiting class.
This past winter, Samberg captained Hermantown High School to its second consecutive Minnesota Class A title, racking up 11 goals -- including the game-winner in double overtime in the state championship -- and 34 points in the process. For his efforts, he was chosen as a finalist for the Minnesota Mr. Hockey Award in addition to earning a spot on the Associated Press All-State first team. Samberg went on to skate in 14 USHL regular season and playoff games with the Waterloo Black Hawks and had five points and a plus-5 rating to show for it.
