Danielle Kohlwey and freshman
Rhianna Rinke both captured titles for the University of Minnesota Duluth at Friday's Minnesota State Invitational in Mankato, Minn.
Kohlwey placed first in the 60-meter hurdles (an event she competed in at last year's NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships) with a time of 8.56 while Rinke prevailed in the 1,000-meter run, coming in at 3:04.20. The Bulldogs also received runnerup performances from junior
Meg Borowski in the 3,000-meter run (10:18.47) freshman
Lindsay Maruska in the triple jump (34'-11.75"), sophomore
Elizabeth Kyes in the 400-meter dash (1:01.38) and freshman
Isabelle Brezinka in the 800-meter run (2:25.44). Junior
Michaela Hesse took third in the women's high jump with a leap of 5'-01.75 and freshman
Carson Haase did likewise in the shot put (38'-03.50").
UMD will split up next weekend with a select number of Bulldogs taking part in the South Dakota State University Invitational on Friday and Saturday (Jan. 19-20) with the rest heading to Superior, Wis., for the Twin Ports Invite.
