The University of Minnesota Duluth could not have picked a much better way to usher in 2018.
The No. 15 Bulldogs, in one of their more dominating offensive performances of the season, throttled Colorado College 5-1 Saturday night in Colorado Springs, Colo., to complete a National Collegiate Hockey Conference series sweep and hike their unbeaten streak to five games (4-0-1).

Kobe Roth, who scored once in UMD's 6-5 triumph over the Tigers on Friday, collected a pair of goals while junior right winger
Parker Mackay also generated two points (one goal and one assist) as the Bulldogs improved to 11-9-3 overall and 5-7-0-0 in the NCHC. Colorado College (9-9-4; 3-7-2-1 NCHC), took a 1-0 lead 7:27 into the first period on a power play goal, but it was all Bulldogs after that. Sophomore defenseman
Nick Wolff scored off a wrister from the left point while UMD had the man advantage seven minutes later before Roth banged in a rebound for the eventual game-winner with 1:32 to in the second period. Mackay, junior right winger Bill Exell and Roth tacked on third-period scores for the Bulldogs, who outshot the Tigers 21-5 in the final 20 minutes of regulation and 45-19 on the night (equaling a 2017-18 single-game high for shots).
UMD cashed in on one of its three power play opportunities and over the past five games have clicked at 50.0 percent efficiency rate with the man advantage (8-for-16). Wolff became the 14th different Bulldog to score on the power play this year.
Sophomore goaltender
Hunter Shepard (11-7-1) made 18 saves for UMD, which will host the University of North Dakota next Friday and Saturday in its first home appearances in seven weeks.
