The University of Minnesota Duluth, which is riding the nation's third-longest unbeaten streak at seven games (6-0-1), continued its climb up the USCHO.com Poll as it leaped five spots this week to No. 9.
The University of Notre Dame maintained the top position for the third straight week with 981 points and received 33 of 50 first-place votes. The Irish were followed by Cornell University (15 first-place votes and 942 pts.), Clarkson University (one first-place vote and 873 pts.), the University of Denver (the remaining first-place vote and 847 pts.), St. Cloud State University (804 pts.), the Ohio State University (748 pts.), Minnesota State University-Mankato (696 pts.), Northeastern University (595 pts.), UMD (573 pts.), and Providence College (543 pts.).
The Bulldogs, who are coming off a weekend home sweep over the University of North Dakota, were one six National Collegiate Hockey Conference teams to crack USCHO.com's Top 20, joining Denver (No. 4), St. Cloud State (No. 5), North Dakota (No. 11), Western Michigan University (No. 12), and the University of Nebraska Omaha (No. 19).
UMD has appeared in every USCHO.com weekly poll since March 7, 2016 and during the 2016-17 season spent a school-record 11 weeks occupying the No. 1 position. This week marks its first time in the USCHO.com Poll's Top 10 since Oct. 30, 2017 (No. 8).
The Bulldogs (13-9-3 overall) will pay a visit to Mankato, Minn., this Tuesday (Jan. 23) to take on No. 7 Minnesota State in their final non-conference assignment of the 2017-18 season.
