Some 18 University of Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs ushered in 2018 by competing in the Minnesota Open Saturday in Minneapolis and eight came home with titles in nine different individual events.
Headling the list was junior
Danielle Kohlwey, who prevailed in both the 200-meter dash (26.45) and 60-meter hurdles (8.68), and sophomore
Paige DuBois, who ran a personal-best (and 2018 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference-leading)1:35.80 in the 600-meter run. Joining them in the winner's circles was senior
Erica Kesseh in the 60-meter dash (7.93), junior
Allie Stalboerger in the 400-meter dash (58.43), freshman
Courtny Carlson in the 800-meter run (2:34.43), junior
Megan Stuart in the mile run (5:45.93), sophomore
Alyssa Kavajecz in the high jump (4'-10.25"), and junior
Alexandra Collins in the long jump (15'-02.75"). In addition, Stalboerger, Kavajecz, DuBois and sophomore Elizabeth Keyes finished first in the 4 x 400-meter relay (4:15.23).
Next up for the Bulldogs is the Minnesota State University-Mankato Invitational this Friday (Jan. 12).
