University of Minnesota Duluth senior
Alexandra Collins placed seventh at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Indoor Pentathlon Championships on Sunday in Mankato, Minn.
Collins, making her second appearance at this event (she was 15th in 2016), accumulated 3,128 points (a 394-point gain from two years ago). Her best finish in any of the five competitions came in the long jump, where her leap of 16'-06.50" was good for fifth place.
Two other Bulldogs -- sophomore
Alyssa Kavajecz (2,709 points) and junior Hailey Franklin (2,584 points) -- finished 17th and 20th, respectively, at Sunday's meet.
With Collins' seventh-place performance, UMD will enter the NSIC Indoor Track and Field Championships (in Mankato on Feb. 23-24) with two team points in its coffers. UMD will tune up for that event this Friday (Feb. 16) by competing in Minnesota State University-Mankato's Maverick Invitational.
