Juniors
Meg Borowski and
Erica Kesseh both posted first-place finishes,
Danielle Kohlwey broke a school record, and the University of Minnesota Duluth also prevailed in the 4 x 400-meter relay at Friday's Maverick Invitational in Mankato, Minn.
Borowski won the 1,000-meter run title with a time of 3:02.87 while Kesseh came out on top in the 60-meter dash, clocking in at 7.76. Kohlwey and fellow juniors
Allie Stalboerger and
Michaela Hesse, along with sophomore
Paige DuBois, teamed up to take top honors in the 4 x 400-meter relay (3:55.67, just .13 shy of the program record that unit set six days ago). For the third time this season, Kohlwey broke her own school record in the 60-meter hurdles, registering an NCAA II automatic qualifying time of 8.37 in the preliminaries. Kesseh placed second in that event's finals (8.82).
UMD also received third-place performances from Stalboerger in the 200-meter dash (25.98), senior
Rachelle LeBlanc in the pole vault (10'-10.00"), sophomore
Elizabeth Kyes in the 800-meter run (2:19.34), freshman
Alexandra Headley in the shot put (44'-05.25"), junior
Bariture Igboh in the weight throw (52'-02.75") and sophomore
Lizzie Schlafke in the 3,000-meter run (10:56.38). In addition, the quartet of Borowski, DuBois, Hesse and rookie
Rhianna Rinke placed second in the distance medley relay (11:54.32).
The Bulldogs will be back in Mankato this Friday and Saturday (Feb. 23-24) for the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships.
