All-American junior
Danielle Kohlwey captured a pair of titles and anchored the record-breaking 4 x 100-meter relay team at for the University of Minnesota Duluth, which finished fifth as a team for for the second straight year at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
The University of Mary won the 15-team event with 157 points and was followed by Minnesota State University-Mankato (110 points), host Winona State University (81.33 pts.), Augustana University (80 pts.), UMD (78 pts.), the University of Sioux Falls (55.50 pts.) and Concordia University-St. Paul (55.33 pts.). Due to rainy and cold weather conditions, no preliminaries were held at the two-day meet, and just the men's and women's 10,000-meter run taking place on Friday's opening day.
Kohlwey prevailed in the 200-meter dash (24.44) and 100-meter hurdles (13.51, just .01 off the program record, which she owns) and then hooked up with senior
Erica Kesseh, junior
Allie Stalboerger and senior
Kendra Monpas to take third in the 4 x 100-meter relay with a time of 47.08. That bettered the old school mark of 47.85 that was set four years ago at same event (NSIC outdoors) and venue (Paul Giel Field in Winona, Minn.). UMD's next highest individual finisher was senior All-American
Emi Trost, who wound up second in the 800-meter run (2:10.74) after reigning as champion in that competition one year ago. Senior
Meg Borowski came in third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (10:58.14) to join Kohwley and Trost as All-NSIC honorees. Kesseh also generated points for UMD in two individual races -- the 100-meter hurdles (fourth place; 14.30) and the 100-meter dash (seventh; 12.25). In the pole vault, freshman

Cassidy Baker and senior
Rachelle LeBlanc (both tied for seventh place) scored for the Bulldogs.

Paige DuBois in the 800-meter run (fifth place; 2:15.25), sophomore
Nicole Schneider in the 400-meter hurdles (seventh place; 1:04.26), sophomore
Elizabeth Kyes in the 1,500-meter run (eighth place; 4:41.87), sophomore
Melissa Drenckhahn in the 10,000-meter run (eighth place; 38:07.49) and Baker in the javelin (sixth place; 116'-09"). In addition, Stalboerger, Hesse, Kyes and DuBois placed sixth in the 4 x 400-meter relay with a time of 3:56.54.
The top three individuals in each event and the top two relay race finishers earn All-NSIC status.
