Danielle Kohlwey closed the books on the 2017-18 season for University of Minnesota Duluth athletics by finishing third in the 100-meter hurdle finals Saturday afternoon at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Charlotte, N.C.
Kohlwey, who posted the fastest time (a school-record 13:33 clocking) in Friday's preliminaries, came in at 13:42 (the second-best effort of her collegiate career) to take a backseat only the Ursline College Janelle Perry (13:35) and San Francisco State University's
Monisha Lewis (13:35). This marked the third year the Onalaska, Wis., took part in the NCAA II outdoor nationals 100-meter hurdle event, having placed sixth in 2017 (to attain All-American status) after not making the finals the previous spring.
Senior Emi Trost also represented UMD in Charlotte, but did not qualify for the 800-meter finals after coming in 19th in Friday's preliminaries. That drew the curtain on a brilliant collegiate career that included 10 All-American citations in track and cross country and one individual national title (the outdoor 1,500-meter crown in 2017).
