This year marks the 60th anniversary of Jim Malosky's arrival at the University of Minnesota Duluth  -- and the start of a  legendary 40-year football head coaching run.

To commemorate this milestone, UMD will recognize the 1958 Bulldogs at its Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference engagement with Concordia University-St. Paul this Saturday afternoon (Sept. 29) at the facility that bears his name -- James S. Malosky Stadium.

In addition to being Malosky's debut season with the Bulldogs, 1958 was also the first time UMD ever played football on campus, doing so once (on Oct. 19, 1958 against the University of St. Thomas). UMD went 4-4-0 that season (and 4-3-0 in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) after going 2-5-1 the previous fall.
