UMD PREVAILS OVER ST. SCHOLASTICA IN 2019 OPENER

The University of Minnesota Duluth made its 2019 debut Friday night by posting a 4-3 victory over the College of St. Scholastica at the Duluth Indoor Sports Center.

After the Saints took one point for winning two of the three doubles matches, the Bulldogs reeled off four singles victories, including a straight-set triumph by Megan Anderson at No. 1. Anderson also teamed with fellow junior team captain Elsa Erickson to prevail at No. 1 doubles.  Sophomore Natalie Cahill (No. 3), freshman Sophie Lynch (No. 4) and sophomore Isabel Thiner (No. 6) were also straight-set winners for the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs will pay a visit to the Lydia Thering Fieldhouse in Superior, Wis. tomorrow morning (Feb. 2) for another non-conference match against the University of Wisconsin-Superior at 11 a.m.
