All-American senior
Danielle Kohlwey, junior
Elizabeth Kyes and sophomores
Rhianna Rinke,
Natalie Peller and
Abbie Rockstad all generated first-place finishes for the University of Minnesota Duluth at two events over the weekend.
Kohlwey was a two-time winner at the South Dakota State University Indoor Classic, taking top honors in both the 60-meter hurdles (a NCAA Division II automatic-qualifying time of 8.35 -- the third fastest clocking in the nation at the moment) and 200-meter dash (24.80) -- races that included a number of NCAA Division I runners. Kyes reigned in the 1,000-meter run at that same event, coming in at 3:01.82. In addition, freshman
Haleigh Reindl took third in the 600-meter run (1:35.09), taking a backseat to a pair of NCAA I individuals.
Rinke, Peller and Rockstad enjoyed their title conquests at Saturday's Yellowjacket Open on the University of Wisconsin-Superior campus. Rinke prevailed in the 1000-meter run with a time of 3:12.20. Peller ran away with the 400-meter title (1:02.97) and Rockstad won pole vault (10'-05.50").
The Bulldogs received second-place finishes from senior
Bariture Igboh in the weight throw (51'-02.25"), senior
Cassidy Baker in the shot put (38'-08.75") and pole vault (10'-05.50"), and senior
Hailey Franklin in the triple jump (32'-09.75).
The Bulldogs will compete in the University of Minnesota's Parent's Day Invite next Saturday (Feb. 16).
