University of Minnesota Duluth All-American senior
Danielle Kohlwey successfully defended her 100-meter hurdle and 200-meter dash titles and freshman teammate
Haleigh Reindl captured the 800-meter run crown at the two-day Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which wrapped up Saturday afternoon at UMD's James S. Malosky Stadium.
The University of Mary won the 15-team event for the second year in a row with 202.50 points and was followed by Augustana University (117 pts.), Minnesota State University-Mankato (100 pts.), Winona State University (77 pts.), UMD (49 pts.), Northern State University (47.50 pts), and Bemidji State University (46.50).
Kohlwey, who participated in the UMD Commencement Ceremony at AMSOIL Arena earlier in the day, prevailed in the 100-meter hurdles (in an NSIC record time of 13.40) and 200-meter dash (24.31) and then hooked up with senior
Allie Stalboerger, freshman
Sierra Arradondo and Reindl to place fifth in the 4 x 400-meter relay with a time of 3:53.44. That made Kohlwey the leading point producer at the meet with 21 points. Reindl, who like Kohlwey was making her Malosky Stadium debut, came in at 2:12.32 to prevail in the 800-meter run finals Saturday.
The Bulldogs also got a strong third-place showing from freshman
Alexandra Wolf in the high jump as she leaped 1.66 meters to join Kohlwey and Reindl as an All-NSIC honoree. Others generating points for the Bulldogs included sophomore
Isabelle Brezinka in the 800-meter run (2:14.65), senior
Cassidy Baker in the pole vault (3.21 meters) and junior
Melissa Drenckhahn in the 10,000-meter run (39:56.68), which was held on Friday.
The top three individuals in each event and the top two relay race finishers earn All-NSIC status.
