The University of Minnesota Duluth women's basketball team released its 2019-20 schedule today, which includes 28 regular season games.
The Bulldogs will tune up for their 89th season of competition with a duo of exhibition bouts, first on Nov. 1 against Bethel University, then Nov. 4 against University of Wisconsin Superior in Duluth. UMD will then hit the road to compete in the Mid-American Intercollegiate Athletics Association/Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Crossover Tournament in Saint Joseph, Mo., where they''ll face Fort Hayes State University on Nov. 8 and Missouri Western State University the following day. Two days later, UMD will make its way to Springfield, Mo., to face Drury University. The Bulldogs will make its 2019-20 home debut by taking on Northern Michigan University 5 days later. After two more non-matchups with the University of Wisconsin-Parkside (Nov. 17 in Duluth) and Michigan Tech University (Nov. 24 in Houghton, Mich.) and it's exclusively NSIC play the rest of the way for the Bulldogs with the first of 22 conference bouts taking place on Nov. 30 against visiting St. Cloud State University.
Three 2019-20 opponents -- Drury, Northern Michigan and MSU Moorhead -- all made the NCAA Division II Tournament last spring.
UMD, under the direction of head coach
Mandy Pearson, concluded the 2018-19 season with a 23-7 record (for their most victories in 16 seasons) and finished second in the NSIC overall standings with a 14-8 mark. The Bulldogs also secured their first NCAA II Men's Basketball Central Regional Ranking (placing as high as No. 5) last winter for the first time since the 2011-12 season.
