University of Minnesota Duluth junior
Alex Kulzer captured a pair of titles to headline a list of strong performances turned in by the Bulldogs at Saturday's Warren Bowlus Open in Menomonie, Wis.
Kulzer prevailed in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.94 and also ran on leg on the winning 4 x 400-meter relay team (3:31.16), that included juniors
Austin Have and
Tyler Wanous and freshman
Max Baker.
Trent Hamerski took runnerup honors in the long jump (21'-10.00") and was fourth in the 60-meter dash (7.06) while fellow sophomore
Zach Skelton placed second in the weight throw (55'-04.75"). Another sophomore,
Jonathan Tostenson, came in third in the 800-meter run (1:58.74). The Bulldogs also received fourth-place finishes from senior
Dan Clark in the pole vault (14'09.00") and sophomore
Ben Palmquist in the 200-meter dash (23.06).
UMD will remain in Duluth next Saturday (Feb. 8) to take part in the College of St. Scholastica's Lake Superior Challenge.
