Nick Wollf, who spent the past four seasons patrolling the University of Minnesota Duluth blue line, has signed a one-year entry level contract with the National Hockey League's Boston Bruins.
A native of Eagan, Minn., Wolff served as a Bulldog co-captain in 2019-20 after handling an assistant captaincy role the previous winter when UMD captured its second NCAA national championship in as many years. In 33 games this season, Wolff accumulated 10 points (all assists) while going a team-leading +18. A finalist for the National Collegiate Hockey Conference's 2019-20 Defensive Defenseman Award, ranked third in that conference in blocked shots with a 2.15 per game average.
Wolff took shifts in 156 lifetime games (the fifth-most of any NCAA I player), including 12 NCAA Tournament outings, which was two shy of the national record. His career stat line showed nine goals and 25 assists for 34 points and a +59 plus-minus rating. Wolff, who participated in the Bruins Development Camp this past summer, also accumulated 233 penalty minutes.
Wolff was the recipient of the Mike Sertich Award (UMD's Most Improved Player) in 2016-17 and made the NCAA West Regional All-Tournament Team the following year.
