Scott Perunovich, who helped propel the University of Minnesota Duluth's to a series sweep of host Colorado College this weekend, has been selected the National Collegiate Hockey Conference Defenseman of the Week.
A two-time All-American out of Hibbing, Minn., Perunovich topped all league blueliners in scoring over the weekend, figuring in on four of the Bulldogs' 10 goals. He scored once and helped set up the eventual game-winning goal in a 4-2 triumph on Friday and then added two more assists the following night as the Bulldogs took down the Tigers 6-1. For the weekend, Perunovich was a +4 with two blocked shots.
Perunovich, whose 39 points this season are bettered by only eight other players in the entire country -- and no blueliners -- and ranks second in assists (33), has earned the NCHC Defenseman of the Week award a league-best five times in 2019-20 (with the others coming on Oct. 28, Nov. 18, Nov. 25 and Feb. 2) and has secured some kind of NCHC weekly honor on 11 different occasions over the course of his career.
