Kenosha, Wis. – The No. 15/18 UMD Bulldogs would continue their road trip as they would travel to face off against the Wisconsin-Parkside Rangers. After the Rangers came back from a 14-point deficit, the Bulldogs would comeback late in the fourth quarter to force overtime and eventually win the game 69-61.

The first quarter saw both teams struggle on the offensive side of the ball. The Bulldogs shot 2-8 (25%) from the field and 0-3 from three-point range during the first quarter. The Rangers also struggled as they shot 2-13 (15.4%) from the field and 0-5 from three-point range. Bulldogs NSIC preseason player of the Year
Brooke Olson, did not attempt a single shot in the first quarter. The Bulldogs offense came alive in the second quarter, led by Olson as she scored 15 points in the quarter on a perfect 7-7 from the field including 1-1 from three-point range. Overall, the Bulldogs shot 10-16 (62.5%) from the field including 1-4 (25%) from three-point range. Wisconsin-Parkside continued to struggle as they would shoot 4-15 (26.7%) in the quarter including 1-4 (25%) from three-point range. The Bulldogs took an 29-20 lead into halftime.
In the second half, both teams saw their offenses start to pick it up. UMD shot 6-13 (46.2%) overall from the field including 1-7 (14.3%) from three-point range, and 4-6 (66.7%) from the free throw line. The Bulldogs scored 17 points for the quarter. The Rangers had their best scoring quarter of the game as they shot 8-17 (47.1%) overall but shot 0-5 from three. The Rangers also shot 2-2 from the free throw line. Going into the fourth quarter, the Bulldogs led 46-38. In the fourth quarter, the Bulldogs once again struggled shooting the ball and scored only 9 points. The Bulldogs struggled from the field as they shot 2-12 (16.7%) and only 1-7 (14.3%) from three-point range. They shot 4-6 (66.7%) from the free throw line. UMD also turned the ball over 4 times in the quarter and fouled the Rangers 9 times, which allowed them to come back. The Rangers shot 6-12 (50%) overall from the field but still struggled from three-point range as they shot 0-6 from three. They also struggled to close out the game as they shot 5-9 (55.6%) from the free throw line. The Rangers had a late 55-53 lead, but the Bulldogs were able to rally late, and thanks to a
Maesyn Thiesen steal, she would go to the foul line to convert two straight free throws to tie it up. The Rangers had one last chance to try to win it, but the Bulldogs defense stepped up to force overtime. The Rangers had opportunities to close out the Bulldogs late, but the Bulldogs fought back to force OT.
In overtime, it was the
Brooke Olson show. Olson shot a perfect 4-4 in overtime and 1-1 from the free throw line for 9 of the Bulldogs 14 points. The Rangers proved to have no answer for Olson as she took over and carried the Bulldogs to the finish. The Rangers kept it close in overtime but could not overcome the Olson show. In overtime, UMD shot 4-7 (57.1%) from the field and 0-2 from three. The Bulldogs finished strong from the free throw line as they went 6-7 (85.7%) from the foul line in overtime. The Rangers could not find consistency in overtime as they once again struggled from the field. They shot 2-8 (25%) from the field and 0-4 from three. They also shot 2-3 (66.7%) from the foul line. The Bulldogs went on to win in overtime by a score of 69-61.

The Bulldogs were led by
Brooke Olson who had a game high 29 points on 12-16 shooting.
Maesyn Thiesen would also add 14 points on the night. Thiesen added 8 assists on the night to lead the Bulldogs.
Taytum Rhoades added 7 rebounds off the bench to lead the Bulldogs. Overall, the Bulldogs shot 24-56 (42.9%) from the field and 3-23 (13%) from three-point range. They also shot 18-23 (78.3%) from the free throw line.
The Rangers were led by Hannah Plockelman who had 23 points on the night. Alyssa Nelson added a game high 13 rebounds on the night. Alexis Vaughn led the Rangers with 6 assists on the night. Overall, Wisconsin-Parkside shot 23-65 from the field (33.8%) and 1-24 from three-point range (4.2%). They also shot 16-24 from the free throw line (66.7%).

The Bulldogs continue their road trip as they will travel to face off against Michigan Tech on Saturday November 20 at 4:30 PM. The Bulldogs will then have their home and conference opener on Tuesday November 23 as they host St. Cloud State.
