BULLDOGS SHOOT 60% FROM FIELD AS THEY WIN ROAD OPENER

St. Paul, Minn. – The UMD Bulldogs traveled to face off against the Concordia Golden Bears. The Bulldogs offense would once again explode as they would win a big road game by the score of 99-76. The win will improve the Bulldogs to 4-0 on the season, the first time they have started a season 4-0 since the 2006-2007 season.
 
In the beginning of the game, both teams would come out trading points before the Bulldogs started to pull away. UMD pulled out to an early 22-13 lead with 11:50 left in the first half. The Bulldogs continued to build their early lead as they jumped out to a 14-point lead in the first half. Concordia slowly worked themselves back into the game as they cut down UMD's lead to 6 points towards the end of the half. The Bulldogs worked their way back up to a 9-point lead just before half as they took a 47-38 lead into the half. The Bulldogs shot 19-34 (55.88%) from the field and 4-9 (44.4%) from three-point range. They also shot 5-9 from the free throw line (55.56%). Concordia shot 13-36 (36.11%) from the field and 2-8 from three-point range (25%). They also shot 10-12 from the free throw line (83.3%)
 
In the second half, the Bulldogs and Golden Bears traded points in the first couple minutes. From there, the Bulldogs once again started to build up their lead. UMD built up their lead to 23 points as they took a 76-53 lead with 9:32 left in the game. The Bulldogs looked to be in cruise control for the rest of the game as Concordia could not get back into the game. The closest they would get is a 17-point deficit as the Bulldogs led by at least 20 for much of the half. The Bulldogs handled the Golden Bears as they went on to win the game 99-76. The Bulldogs shot 22-34 (64.7%) from the field and 2-9 (22.2%) from three-point range in the second half. They also shot 6-10 from the foul line (60%). Concordia shot 12-27 (44.4%) in the second half including 2-7 (28.5%) from three-point range. They also shot 12-15 from the foul line (80%)
 
The Bulldogs had three players score more than 20 points, led by Charlie Katona who had a game high 28 points, Drew Blair had 27 points on the night, and Austin Andrews added 22 on the night as well. Katona and Andrews led the Bulldogs with 9 rebounds on the night. Jack Middleton led the team with 6 assists on the night while not turning the ball over once. Joshua Brown also contributed 2 steal and 2 blocks on the night. Overall, the Bulldogs shot an impressive 41-68 (60.3%) from the field and 6-18 from three-point range (6-18 (33.3%). They also shot 11-19 (57.9%) from the foul line.
 
Concordia was led by Sunday John who had 18 points on the night. Marcus Skeete also added 15 points on the night. Elijah Ormiston added 8 rebounds on the night to lead Concordia while Jack Stensgard added 5 assists. Overall, Concordia shot 25-63 (39.7%) from the field and 4-15 (26.7%) from three-point range. They also shot 22-27 (81.5%) from the foul line.
