Following their weekend split at No. 6 North Dakota, Minnesota Duluth has jumped to No. 2 in the most recent USCHO.com National Poll, the website announced Monday morning.
UMD received a total of 908 rank points and five first-place votes to earn their highest ranking of the season. Minnesota Duluth is now the highest ranked team out of the NCHC, a conference who has five teams ranked within the national top 10. Additionally, the Bulldogs sit just one spot back of No. 1 Minnesota State, Mankato, a team they'll face in a home-and-home at the end of December.
The NCHC continues to impress. No. 5 St. Cloud, No. 6 North Dakota, No. 7 Western Michigan, and No. 9 Omaha all join UMD in the top 10. Additionally, No. 12 Denver also represents the NCHC in the national top 20.
Minnesota Duluth will face Alaska-Fairbanks this weekend (No. 26 and 27) at AMSOIL Arena in Duluth. Game times are 7:07 PM on Friday and 6:07 PM on Saturday.
