Following their home sweep of Alaska Fairbanks, the University of Minnesota Duluth has earned a No. 1 national ranking, USCHO.com announced on Monday Morning.

The Bulldogs took home a total of 967 rank points and 33 first-place votes to garner the nation's top spot. It's the first time since October 7, 2019 that Minnesota Duluth has held a No. 1 overall ranking.

UMD is joined by fellow NCHC foes No. 5 St. Cloud, No. 6 Western Michigan, No. 7 North Dakota, No. 10 Omaha, and No. 12 Denver. The Bulldogs will host No. 12 Denver next weekend from AMSOIL Arena in Duluth.

This past weekend, the Bulldogs used 5-1 and 1-0 victories to sweep Alaska Fairbanks. Senior captain Noah Cates's overtime goal on Saturday night improves the Bulldogs to 10-3-1 on the season.

UMD will continue it's out of conference schedule next weekend at Northern Michigan University. Puck drop on both Friday and Saturday is set for 5:37 PM CT in Marquette, MI.
