The No. 4 seeded University of Minnesota Duluth softball team opened conference tournament play today against the No. 5 seed Concordia-St. Paul Golden Bears in Rochester, MN. In the longest game in Coach
Jen Walter's tenure, the Bulldogs would walk off with a 1-0 win in the bottom of the thirteenth inning thanks to a heroic effort from
Sidney Zavoral and
Jessica Bren.
Late in the thirteenth inning, the Bulldogs would load the bases before freshman Sidney Zavoral would single, allowing Jessica Bren to score to send the Bulldogs on to the next round of the NSIC Tournament.
Sam Pederson pitched a gem of a game. Pederson went the distance for the complete game 13-inning shutout, only allowing six hits total, facing 48 batters while striking out seven.
Kat Burkhardt, Jessica Bren, and Jordyn Thomas would get three hits for the Bulldogs through the first seven innings.
In extra innings, Jordyn Thomas, Lauren Oberle, Julia Gronholz, Jessica Bren would all add hits for the Bulldogs.Â
