Kate Berg eclipsed the 1,000-dig mark for her career in the match against Quincy University, adding her to the exclusive 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs club at UMD.

Kenosha, Wisconsin – The No. 11 Bulldogs faced off against Colorado Christian on Saturday afternoon and came out firing. The Bulldogs were able to defeat the Cougars convincingly 3-0 (25-17, 25-14, 25-13). The Bulldogs also had a season best hitting percentage of .430.
In the first set, the Bulldogs jumped out to a early 9-3 lead. The Cougars would battle back throughout the set, bring the score to 19-16. But from there, the Bulldogs would once again take over scoring 6 of the next 7 points to close out the Cougars in the first set.
The second set saw both teams trading points to start the set. After a kill from
Cianna Selbitschka, the Bulldogs tied it up 9-9. From this point, the Bulldogs would take over. The Bulldogs would go on to score 11 of 13 points to take a commanding 20-11 lead. The Bulldogs would not slow down here, as they would score 5 of the last 7 points to win the second set.
The third set saw another commanding performance from the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs jumped out to a 10-6 advantage. After trading points with the Cougars, the Bulldogs would once again take control of the match and go on to score 10 of the next 12 points to close out the Cougars.
Sophomore
Grace Daak led the Bulldogs tonight with 15 kills, while Sophomore
Cianna Selbitschka added 10 kills. Redshirt Junior
Madison Gordon added 35 assists for the Bulldogs, while Senior
Sydney Lanoue added 17 digs.
Ashley Drye led the Cougars with 4 kills. Izzy Jones added 10 assists, while Madelyn Long added 10 digs for the Cougars.

In the second game of the day, the No. 11 Bulldogs faced Quincy University. After winning the first two sets, the Hawks battled back to draw the match to a fifth set. The Bulldogs would once again grind out a fifth set victory to win the match 3-2 (25-18, 25-20, 24-26, 26-28, 15-13).
In the first set, the Bulldogs would jump out to a quick 7-2 lead. The Hawks however would battle back to draw the set to within two points at 17-15. The Bulldogs would deny the Hawks comeback attempt by scoring four points in a row to give them a 21-15 lead. After a Quincy timeout, the Hawks would score a point, just for the Bulldogs to score 3 of the next 4 points to close out the set.
In the second set, both teams would trade points and would battle it out to a 12-12 tie. Teams would trade points again until the Bulldogs would once again go on another run. The Bulldogs would go on to 8 of 10 points to take a commanding 22-17 lead. The Bulldogs would eventually be able to close out the Hawks and win 25-20.
The third set was once again a battle between the Bulldogs and Hawks. After trading points early in the set, the Bulldogs would take a 12-7 lead. The Hawks, however, would battle back into the set. After being down 23-19, the Hawks called a timeout. Coming out of the timeout, the Hawks would go on to score 7 of the next 8 points to win the set 26-24.
The fourth set was much like the third set; a battle. Teams would start off the set trading points and bringing the score to a 13-12 advantage for the Bulldogs. After trading points, the Bulldogs would go on to score 7 of the next 9 points, gaining a 21-15 lead. The Hawks would once again storm back to a 23-22 score for the Bulldogs. The teams would then trade points up to 26-26. From there, the Hawks would score two in a row to close out the Bulldogs.
In the fifth and final set, teams once again began by trading points. Teams continued to fight to a 11-11 score. From there, the Bulldogs would manage to get it to a 14-12 lead. After a UMD timeout, Quincy would score a point to get it into one point, but after a service error by Quincy, the Bulldogs would grind out yet another fifth set victory this weekend.
The Bulldogs were once again led by
Cianna Selbitschka, who recorded 24 kills. 5

Kate Berg would also contribute 11 kills.
Madison Gordon would contribute 49 assists for the Bulldogs.
Sydney Lanoue would contribute 21 digs for the Bulldogs, while
Cianna Selbitschka would add 20 and
Kate Berg would also add 16 digs. It was in this match that Berg would break the 1,000-dig mark for her career.
The Hawks were led by Emma Wijnbergen with 17 kills. Mattie Norris and Emily Rehagen also added 13 kills each. Makayla Knoblauch added 44 assists and added 23 digs to lead the Hawks.

The Bulldogs will open up NSIC play next weekend as they host their first home game in nearly two years. The Bulldogs will host Wayne State on Friday September 17
th at 6:00 PM. The Bulldogs will also host Augustana on Saturday September 18
th at 2:00 PM.
