The University of Minnesota Duluth soccer team saw their 2022 season come to a close after a hard-fought 2-0 loss with St. Cloud State. The Bulldogs celebrated their last match of the season with honoring their senior class.
The Bulldogs created strong offensive pressure, but couldn't keep it up long term. UMD came out firing, creating a good scoring opportunity and putting strong pressure on St.Cloud's back line. However, the pressure didn't last as the Huskies were able to capitalize on a high, loose ball making it 1-0 midway through the first half.
St. Cloud would continue to create pressure against the Bulldogs, but didn't see another score until late in the second half when they scored off a penalty kick. The Bulldog's backline put up a good fight, only allowing the Huskies three shots and one shot on goal the whole night.
The Bulldogs would go on to change the momentum of the game midway through the second half and were able to create multiple scoring chances. The Bulldogs had six corner kicks on the night, none breaking the no-score game. UMD's Anna Tobias led the team with two shots on goal, followed by midfielders Daisy Miller and Tori Thorson.
The Bulldogs would finish their season with an overall record of 8-7-3 and 7-5-3 in conference play.
