UMD Bulldogs "ALLETE" Moments: Competition
Throughout this year, UMD Athletics is partnering with Minnesota Power, ALLETE to highlight the Bulldogs accomplishments in the 3 C's: Classroom, Competition, Community. 

UMD men's basketball's Charlie Katona was named the NSIC Player of the Week for the North Division, per a conference release. This is his second time earning this honor, his first since his freshman season in 2020-21. 

Katona had himself quite the week last week, averaging 18.5 points on 63.2% shooting from the field across two Bulldog victories. Thursday saw a stout performance from the 6-6 junior forward- he closed with 12 points on 4-7 shooting to pair with seven rebounds, four assists and both a steal and a block. Then came Saturday, where Katona had a breakout night. Don't let his season-high 25 points (on 8-12 shooting, no less) fool you- Katona was equally locked in defensively. He snagged a career-high five steals to go along with nine rebounds and three blocks. This left Katona with an average of eight rebounds, three steals and two blocks across the week. 

UMD goes on its first NSIC road trip of the year this weekend with a pair of contests out in North Dakota. The Bulldogs' first stop will be in Minot for a contest against the Beavers on Friday, Dec. 9 at 7:30 p.m. They'll follow that up with a trek to Bismark to meet Mary on Saturday, Dec. 10 at 5:30 p.m.
