WOMEN'S BASKETBALL USE STRONG OFFENSIVE FIRST HALF TO PROPEL THEM TO 10TH STRAIGHT WIN

Duluth, Minn. – The Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs hosted the Northern State Wolves on Saturday afternoon. After a strong offensive first half, the Bulldogs went on to win 66-46 to extend their winning streak to 10 games!
 
In the first quarter, the Bulldogs offensive started off hot as they jumped out to a quick 11-2 lead, thanks to Brooke Olson layup with 4:40 remaining in the quarter. From there, the Bulldogs strong offensive play continued down the stretch as they increased their lead to 18-7. Kaylee Nelson capped off a strong offensive quarter for the Bulldogs as they took a 22-10 first quarter lead. The Bulldogs shot 9-13 (69.2%) from the field and 1-4 from three-point range in the quarter. The Wolves shot 3-10 (30%) from the field and 1-2 from three-point range.
 
In the second quarter, the Bulldogs continued their strong offensive start as they extended their lead to 28-12 over the Wolves. A Payton Kahl layup extended the Bulldogs lead once again as they led 33-14 with 3:28 remaining in the first half. The Bulldogs managed to maintain their double-digit lead as Brooke Olson capped off a strong first half with a layup as the Bulldogs took a 37-16 first half lead. The Bulldogs shot 7-15 (46.7%) from the field and 1-4 (25%) from three-point range in the quarter. The Wolves shot 3-11 (27.3%) from the field and 0-1 from three-point range in the quarter.
 
The Bulldogs started the second half strong once again as they extended their lead to 40-18. From there, the Wolves slowly started to chip into the Bulldog lead as they got their deficit down to 10 points as they trailed 44-34 with 2:06 remaining in the first half. Teams traded baskets down the stretch as the Bulldog lead was cut to 46-36 going into the fourth quarter. The Bulldogs shot 2-11 (18.2%) from the field and 0-5 from three-point range. The Wolves shot 8-15 (53.3%) from the field and 0-1 from three-point range.
 
The beginning of the fourth quarter was a struggle for both teams as only the Wolves scored one basket during the first three minutes of game time in the quarter. A pair of Taytum Rhoades free-throws extended the Bulldogs lead to 10 points as the Bulldogs led 51-38 with 6:37 remaining. Over the next 3 minutes, the Bulldogs went on a 11-3 run to blow the game open as the Bulldogs led 62-43 with 3:12 remaining in the game.  From there, both teams emptied their bench as the game was out of reach for the Wolves. The Bulldogs went on to win the game 66-46.
 
The Bulldogs were led by Brooke Olson who had 16 points on the night while Taytum Rhoades added 11 points and Ann Simonet added 10 of her own. Simonet led the team with 7 rebounds while Maesyn Thiesen led the team with 6 assists. Overall, the Bulldogs shot 23-54 (42.6%) from the field and 5-20 (25%) from three-point range. The Bulldogs also shot 15-18 from the floor.
 
The Wolves were led by Kailee Oliverson who had 17 points on the night. Laurie Rogers led the team with 7 rebounds on the night. Overall, the Wolves shot 18-50 (36%) from the field and 3-8 (37.5%) from three-point range.
