Minnesota Duluth junior distance runner Julia Nielsen has earned USTFCCCA All-Region honors, the organization announced on Tuesday afternoon. 

Nielsen earned the recognition for her performance in the 5k run at the South Dakota State University Indoor Classic in mid-February. While competing in Brookings, SD, Nielsen notched an impressive 5k time of 16:58.32.  For Nielsen, her mark of 16:58.32 was a new personal best, and also the ninth fastest time in NCAA Division ll.

The top-5 individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each member of the region's top-3 relay teams. The regions used for this award – Atlantic, Central, East, Midwest, South, South Central, Southeast and West – match those used during the cross country season.

Nielsen and the Bulldogs will be back in action on April 1 at the Wartburg Outdoor Select in Waverly, IA.
