After capturing the NCHC Frozen Faceoff Championship this past weekend, the University of Minnesota Duluth men's hockey team has jumped to No. 6 in the most recent USCHO.com National Poll, the website released on Monday afternoon.
UMD took home a total of 772 rank points to jump up two spots from last week's poll. The Bulldogs have also moved past North Dakota, and are the third highest NCHC team in the national poll.
Five NCHC schools will represent the conference in the national tournament this week. No. 3 Denver, No. 4 Western Michigan, No. 7 North Dakota, and No. 11 St. Cloud State all join the Bulldogs in both the national tournament and the USCHO's weekly poll.
This past weekend in St. Paul, the Bulldogs defeated both Denver and Western Michigan en route to a conference tournament championship. However, Minnesota Duluth and Denver have both been placed in the Loveland Regional for the NCAA Tournament, along with Michigan Tech and UMass-Lowell.
Minnesota Duluth will battle the Huskies of Michigan Tech on Thursday at 2:00 PM CT in the NCAA Opening Round in Loveland, CO.
