Jordyn Thomas notched five hits on the day to help the Minnesota Duluth softball team to a split at Florida Southern College on Wednesday evening in Lakeland, FL. After dropping game one 1-0, UMD bounced back with an impressive 6-4 victory in the night cap. The win propels the Bulldogs to 14-5 overall record on the season.
While playing under the lights, Thomas shined bright for UMD. In seven plate appearances on Wednesday, Thomas tallied five hits and two RBI's.

Game Two: 6-4 Win over Florida Southern
Looking to respond, UMD turned to 5th-year pitcher
Sam Pederson in game two. Pederson recorded her fourth win of the season after going a full 7.0 innings and giving the Mocs just eight hits. The offense for the Bulldogs came by way of Thomas, Zavoral, and Burkhardt. Burkhardt's RBI double in the top of the first would give UMD an early 3-0 lead. The Mocs would punch back with two runs of their own in the bottom of the first and second innnings to take a 4-3 lead. However, UMD would capitalize on a passed ball from Florida Southern, tying the game at 4-4 in the fourth. In the top of the fifth, a clutch RBI single from Thomas up the middle would score
Makenna Burslie and give UMD the 5-4 advantage. Insurance came for the Bulldogs in the top of the seventh. Again, a Thomas RBI single would drive in Burslie to extend Minnesota Duluth's lead to 6-4. In the bottom of the seventh, Pederson would eliminate any threat, helping the Bulldogs to a 6-4 road victory.
