St. Paul, Minn. - 21 hits in two games propelled the Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs to a series sweep of the Southwest Minnesota State Mustangs on Monday afternoon in St. Paul. On the day, the Bulldogs put together 7-4 and 11-2 victories to extend their win streak to six games. Additionally, the series sweep gives UMD an 18-6 record in NSIC play, and pushes them into a tie for fourth place in the conference standings.

Jordyn Thomas led the way with a total of five RBI on the day. Across both games on Monday, Thomas went 5-for-6 at the plate and noted a pair of doubles. Along with Thomas,
Kiana Bender,
Emma Frost and
Nicole Schmitt all chipped in two RBI each on the day. For the freshman Schmitt, it's hits in ten of her last twelve games. Additionally, with three hits on the afternoon, Bender extends her hit streak to eight games.
On the mound, both
Sam Pederson and
Lauren Dixon collected victories for the Bulldogs. In game one, Pederson surrendered just four earned runs and seven hits in seven innings of action. For Pederson, the win gives her an 11-3 overall record on the year. In game two, Dixon was able to hold the mustangs to two runs on just four hits. With the victory, Dixon has now collected wins in her last five contests.
The series between the Bulldogs and Mustangs was originally scheduled to be played on Saturday, April 23 in Duluth. However, inclement weather and cold temperatures forced the game to be played at the University of St. Thomas's South Field in St. Paul. Both teams would battle through low thirty degree weather in St. Paul on Monday.
