The Minnesota Duluth women's track & field squad competed in the Minnesota State Open on Saturday afternoon in Mankato, Minn. On the day, UMD received standout distance performances from
Mackenzie Hall and
Julia Nielsen. Saturday's event was the second outdoor meet of the season for the Bulldogs.
"Our women's 10k group started a really productive day," said Head Coach
Karly Brautigam. "NCAA Provisional qualifying marks for Hall and Nielsen was a highlight. I'd take that 10k duo against anyone. This group showed a lot of toughness today, especially those that were competing more than once."
In the women's 10,000 meter run, the Bulldogs swept the podium. Hall's mark of 35:56.02 and Nielsen's time of 35:56.65 were good enough for one and two in the event. Each mark is also an NCAA Provisional qualifying time. Additionally,
Alexandra Robran grabbed third place in the 10k after notching a time of 37:42.96. In the 800 meter run,
Isabelle Brezinka noted a time of 2:14.08, which was good enough for second place on the individual leaderboard. Another strong performance came from
Morgan Radel in the women's 5000 meter run. Radel earned third place on the leaderboard after posting a mark of 18:21.27. In the field,
Eden Worden's height of 3.12 meters in the pole vault was good enough for third place in the event.
