In tonight's game freshman

Luke Loheit each notched a goal.
Jesse Jacques,
Luke Johnson,
Ben Steeves, and
Dominic James were among the Bulldogs to each record an assist tonight.
The Bulldogs opened the game off strong against the Fighting Hawks. Six minutes into the game UMD was called for slashing, and on the delayed penalty UMD drew a holding penalty, making the next two minutes four-on-four. Though the first period was held scoreless, UMD kept good momentum and controlled possession for a majority of the period to out-shoot UND 13-3.
Opening the second period, Jacques passed the puck off to Johnson in the defensive zone for a line change. Johnson carried the puck all the way behind the net, passing the UND defensemen. He then connected with Howard who was following behind him and waited at the top of the crease and sent the puck top shelf to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead. With minutes left in the period, UND responded back and tied the game and closed out the second period 1-1.
In the third period UMD was given back-to-back power play opportunities, but the Fighting Hawks put up a fight and killed off both their penalties. At the end of UMD's second power play, the Bulldogs were called for slashing, giving UND their second power play opportunity. The Bulldogs made a strong effort to keep the game tied and denied UND a power play goal. With two minutes remaining Steeves brought the puck up the left wing. After a clean connection with James, James gave the puck to Loheit in front of the net who scored the go-ahead game winning goal.
UP NEXT The Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs will return home for a series against St. Cloud State next weekend Jan 27-28.
