The University of Minnesota Duluth men's hockey team is adding Connor McMenamin to their current captaincy group. He joins captain Luke Loheit and alternates Dominic James and Quinn Olson.
McMenamin is a graduate student transfer from Penn State University. He spent the past two seasons as an alternate captain for the Nittany Lions.
Through five games with UMD, McMenamin already has two goals and two assists. He scored his pair of goals Saturday, Oct. 14 against Northern Michigan. Head Coach Scott Sandelin said McMenamin's impact hasn't only been felt on the ice.
"We are excited to have Connor McMenamin serve as an assistant captain," Sandelin said. "Connor has exemplified strong leadership qualities since he arrived in Duluth, and he has quickly earned the trust and respect of his teammates.
He will wear the 'A' on the ice for the first time this Friday, Oct. 26 at 6 p.m. CT against Cornell University.
