#13 Men’s Basketball Hosts Their First Homestand of the Regular Season to Open Up Conference Play

The No.13 University of Minnesota Duluth men's basketball team returns to Romano Gymnasium for the first time this season as they host the Wayne State College (NE) Wildcats and the Augustana University Vikings to open up Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) play.

THE SEASON SO FAR

 

The Bulldogs return home following a pair of wins in the Upper Peninsula against the Michigan Tech Huskies and the Northern Michigan Wildcats. UMD now sits with a 5-1 overall record as they enter conference play. The Bulldogs enter this week ranked No.13 in the most recent NABC national coaches poll, just four and six spots behind fellow NSIC competitors MSU Mankato and MSU Moorhead respectively.

 

SCOUTING REPORT

 

The Wayne State College (NE) Wildcats remain at a 7-0 overall record and a 1-0 conference record following their win over the Southwest Minnesota State Mustangs and their most recent win over the University of Nebraska Kearney Lopers. The Wildcats currently have the highest ranked scoring defense in the nation, and lead the conference in multiple statistical categories including steals per game and turnovers forced per game. The Augustana University Vikings remain at a 4-2 overall record and a 0-1 conference record following their loss against the University of Sioux Falls Cougars and their most recent win against the Grand View University Vikings. The Bulldogs are 2-8 against Augustana since 2014, with their most recent win against the Vikings being in February 2020 at home.

 

LOOKING AHEAD

 

Men's basketball will be on the road again for their second weekend of conference play as they take on the University of Sioux Falls Cougars and the Southwest Minnesota State University Mustangs. The action will tip off next weekend on Friday, Dec. 8, at 5:30 PM.
