The University of Minnesota Duluth women's basketball team fell to the Concordia St. Paul Golden Bears tonight in their quick road trip along their Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) schedule before returning home to Romano Gym.
Halftime: UMD (26) - CSP (29)
The two teams would go bucket for bucket for the opening minutes and even match seven point runs to stay at an even 13-13 with one minute left in the half. CSP would score a last second bucket to take a two point lead going into the second quarter, a lead that they would barely hold onto as the two teams continued to match each other's offensive momentum going into the halftime intermission.
UMD would shoot 11-27 (40.7%) from the field, 2-6 (33.3%) from three point range, and 2-3 (66.7%) from the free throw line to close out the first half. An overall slow half for fouls would let the slightly better CSP field goal percentage of 46.6% take credit for the three point lead.
Final Score: UMD (60) - CSP (69)
With the opening two buckets going the way of the Golden Bears, an additional five point run would help them jump out to a 10 point lead five minutes into the third quarter, but not without a response from Rhoades who would string together a layup and a three pointer to cut the lead back down to just five. The Bulldogs would secure the first score of the fourth quarter and the only two three point shots of the fourth, but would still be outscored by CSP 20-18 to close things out before their return to Duluth this weekend.
UMD ended the night shooting 24-64 (37.5%) from the field, 6-22 (27.3%) from outside the arc, and 6-7 (85.7%) from the charity line.
