The University of Minnesota Duluth women's basketball team was revealed to be the No. 2 seed in the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will face off against No. 7 Assumption on Monday, March 20 at 2:30 p.m. at the St. Joseph Civic Arena in St. Joseph, Mo.
To construct the Elite Eight bracket, those to make it out of their respective Regionals were gathered and reseeded according to performance.The highest seed will play the lowest seed, and so on down the bracket, just as it usually works.
The only team to land above the Bulldogs was No. 1 Ashland, who also sits at the top of both the WBCA and D2SIDA Polls. The Eagles are still undefeated on the season, holding a 34-0 record. They won both the regular season and tournament titles in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (GMAC).

Ashland, UMD, CSUDH, Tampa, GSU, Catawba and Assumption all entered the tournament as the No. 1 seeds of their regions. The Cinderella of the group is UT Tyler, which came in as the fifth seed in the South Central.
Assumption hails from the Northeast-10 Conference (NE10), one that the Greyhounds secured a share of the regular season title in with a 16-4 conference mark. Assumption is currently 27-5 overall.
