Tuesday night marked the end of the first week for the 2023 Women's World Championship in Brampton, Canada, and the University of Minnesota Duluth women's hockey program made its mark in the preliminary round.

Four current and four former players hit the ice in the opening week, and here's a look back at their highlights through four games.

Despite claiming the first-ever Hockey Humanitarian mid-tournament, Gabbie Hughes – making her U.S. senior national debut, has a goal and an assist for two points through four games. Hughes has a plus/minus rating of +5, and will face Germany and UMD teammate Nina Jobst-Smith Thursday at 12:30 p.m. at the CAA Centre.

Jobst-Smith enters Thursday's game with a goal and two assists for three points to her name, as well as a +1 rating through four games. Jobst-Smith, who has become a regular for the German national team, has helped Germany to the third-best penalty kill in the tournament so far. Jobst-Smith is teammates with another former Bulldog, forward Marie Delarbre, who has an assist and a +2 plus/minus rating.

Between the pipes, both Bulldog goaltenders in the tournament have stood their ground. Two-time All-American Emma Soderberg has played has split time in net for Sweden, and in two games, picked up one win and has a GAA of 3.52. Czech Republic goaltender Blanka Skodova has been in goal for all four games, and has a 3.46 GAA and one win. Skodova has faced the second most shots in the tournament at 103, and has played the most minutes (242:40 - 100% of the Czech Republic's ice time.)Â Â

Skodova's teammate, former Bulldog Katrina Mrazova, has a goal and a +2 rating in the opening round for the Czech Republic, who will face Finland in the quarterfinals – something Mrazova, a captain, is excited about.

"We are really excited for it," said Mrazova. "We are looking for good hockey with Finland and we know it's going to be a good game—we want to play these games. It's always a really good battle against them. Everyone's so excited about it."

Former Bulldog All-American Lara Stalder has put up five points for Switzerland in four games – two goals and three assists. Stalder is tied for 17th in scoring, and the captain will lead the Swiss against Japan Friday night in the quarterfinals.

Another All-American UMD defenseman Jocelyne Larcoque, a stalwart of the Canadian National Team, has two goals and a +4 plus/rating for Canada, who will take an undefeated record into its game with Sweden Friday evening.
