BULLDOGS ARE SET FOR ROAD SERIES AGAINST SOUTHWEST MINNESOTA STATE

The University of Minnesota Duluth baseball team is on the road yet again for a double header against Southwest Minnesota State for a midweek double header. 

UMD is looking to improve their overall record 15-22 (8-16 NSIC). Coming off a series split with Minot State and a sweep of Bemidji State, the Bulldogs are looking to continue their momentum heading into the second to last road trip of the season. 

Ethan Cole is still number one for the Bulldogs at the plate with a .353 batting average, .605 slugging percentage, 42 hits,  28 runs, 27 RBIs and six home runs. Gabe Richardson is second on the team with 26 RBIs and five home runs, two of the six coming from last Sunday's matchup with Minot State. 

On the Mound, Brayden Buttweilier remains at the top for the Bulldogs in strikeouts. He has notched 40 strikeouts and an ERA of 3.31 on the season. Hayden Brown leads the team in ERA with 2.60 and 16 strikeouts.  Alex Wattermann and Mason Thiel both have 23 and 25 strikeouts respectively. 

Southwest Minnesota State will prove to be a worthy opponent.  SMSU sits in the seven spot in the NSIC standings with a conference record of 13-9 and 21-11 overall. Historically, the Bulldogs have fared well against the Mustangs. The Bulldogs have managed to notch a 17-9 record since 2013. During their last matchup, UMD was able to get the 8-6 win. 

The Bulldogs will take to the field for game one on Wednesday, April 26 in Marshall, MN. The first pitch for game one of the double header is slated for 1:30 p.m. with game two following immediately after.
