The University of Minnesota Duluth football team has released its schedule for the 2023 campaign. The Bulldogs are set to play six home games and five road games in the fall.
UMD will open its season against the Northern Michigan University Wildcats at Malosky Stadium at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 31. This will be the first time since 1998 that the 'Dogs will match up with the 'Cats. In fact, it will be the first non-conference regular season game the Bulldogs will play since the 2011 season.
The Bulldogs will then travel to Aberdeen, S.D. for a road matchup against Northern State University. UMD closed the 2022 season with a 25-7 win over the Wolves. In week five and six UMD will play Winona State and Wayne State, after not having seen either team since the 2021 campaign. Week nine and 10 will be UMD's only back-to-back home games, as its schedule alternates home and road games every weekend, as it welcomes Bemidji State University and Concordia University-St. Paul. The Bulldogs will close out the 2023 season with a road game against the Minnesota State University Mavericks on Nov. 11.
The Bulldogs will hold their annual spring game on Friday Apr. 21 at 5:30 p.m. at Malosky Stadium in Duluth. UMD began their spring practices last week on Monday, March 27, 2023.
UMD enters the spring after the 2022 season where the team finished second in the NSIC North Division. The Bulldogs concluded the season with a 8-3 overall record.
