BULLDOGS RALLY FOR SPLIT AGAINST MINNESOTA CROOKSTON IN FINAL HOME SERIES

The University of Minnesota Duluth baseball team picked up the split against Minnesota Crookston on Tuesday afternoon. The Bulldogs fought off the Golden Eagles for a 10-8 walk-off win in game one and fell 4-6 in game two. 

Game one started off in favor of the Golden Eagles when they hit a two-run home run to left center. Tim Pokornowski would get the Bulldogs on the board in the first inning with Gabe Richardson notching the RBI. 

The score would stay an even 2-1 score until the top of the fourth when the Golden Eagles activated their offense. The Bulldogs would come up to the plate down 5-1 in the bottom of the fourth. Tosten Mann started the rally with a double to center field and would later score, Pokornowski notching an RBI on the play. Ethan Cole would notch an RBI of his own with a single to right field to score Sam Tanner and cut the Golden Eagle lead to two. 

Minnesota Crookston scored one more run in the top of the fifth, but the Bulldogs had a three-run answer in the bottom of the inning. Thomas Hanson kicked off the rally with a triple to right center and would score after a Pokornowski double down the center line. Jack Puder would follow it up with a two-run homer to tie the ball game 6-6. The Bulldogs would capitalize on a wild pitch to score Richardson and end the inning 7-6.

The Golden Eagles scored two runs in the top of the sixth inning, leading the Bulldogs 8-7 heading into the bottom of the sixth. Pokornowski would kick the inning off with a double to right center, and would score two plates later. Gabe Richardson would notch the RBI to solidify the score 8-8 heading into the seventh inning. 

The score would stay even until the bottom of the tenth when Jack Puder smashed his second home run of the day for the walk-off win 10-8. 

Game two also started off in favor of UMC, but the Bulldogs quickly turned it around and took the 2-1 heading into the second inning. Pokornowski and Puder would get it started with singles to the outfield. Mann and Tanner both notched RBIs to score both Puder and Pokornowski  to end the inning. 

It remained a 2-1 game until the third inning when the Golden Eagles scored two runs to take the lead. The fifth inning, the Eagles scored two more runs to bring their lead to 4-2. Pokornowksi and Richardson both knocked in a run a piece to tie it up heading into the sixth inning. From there the Golden eagles would go on to score two more runs in the top of the seventh, ending the game 6-4. 


The Bulldogs will face off against UMary in Bismarck, ND on Friday at 1:30 P.M.
