The University of Minnesota Duluth women's hockey program has announced Justin Grant as its new third full-time assistant coach.
Â
Grant comes to the Bulldogs after serving as the goalie coach for the women's team at the University of St. Thomas for the past two seasons, and the North Campus Director for MEGA Goaltending for the previous six years. Grant was also the Bethel University Goalie Coach (men) for the last five years.
Â
"We're happy to welcome Justin to the Bulldog family," said UMD head coach Maura Crowell. "He has significant experience as a goaltending coach at the collegiate level on both the men's and women's sides as well as with Minnesota high school hockey and MEGA Goaltending. His work within the WCHA is valuable to our players and coaching staff because he understands the demands of our league."
Â
A Minnesota Scout for the USNTDP from 2018-19, Grant was also the goalie coach at Centennial High School boys team from 2012-22 and the Goalie Director at High Performance from 2017-22.
Â
"I am very excited to be a part of this great university, team and tradition of excellence," said Grant. "I plan to bring my knowledge of the goaltending position and with the kids we have and through hard work I feel we'll have success, and I can't wait to get settled in and start the process."
Â
Grant, a goaltender himself, spent four years between the pipes for Northland College before graduating in 2007 with a degree in business management. Grant also played one season in the SPHL with the Knoxville Bears, two seasons in the AAHL and two seasons in the CHL, most recently with the Missouri Mavericks and Quad City Mallards over the 2011-12 season.
