The University of Minnesota Duluth soccer team sets out for their final road games of the 2024 season this weekend, taking on the University of Sioux Falls Cougars and the Southwest Minnesota State University Mustangs on Friday and Sunday.

The Bulldogs picked up a 1-1 split over the weekend, falling 2-1 to the Northern State University Wolves before taking down the Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragons 2-1 for their second win of the 2024 season.Â

Despite a strong defensive effort in the first half to keep NSU scoreless, the Wolves were able to get on the board first and break the standstill in the 67th minute. UMD fought back to tie things up 1-1 with the third goal of the season from freshman Gwendolyn Lilly, but were ultimately taken down with another NSU goal in the 85th minute.Â

UMD launched out to a strong start against the Dragons with an early second half goal from team captain Anna Tobias in the 46th minute. MSUM quickly responded with a goal of their own less than two minutes later, but Tobias would yet again put the Bulldogs on top with her second goal of the game in the 65th minute.

Head coach Greg Cane nears another career milestone, sitting two victories away from 300 career wins. Now in his 30th season with the Bulldogs and 34th season overall as a collegiate head coach, Cane currently holds a 298-241-63 coaching record.

The University of Sioux Falls Cougars are 2-11 overall and 2-7 in the NSIC throughout the 2024 season, sitting at 12th in the conference standings after their recent losses to MSU Mankato and Augustana.
