UMD Bulldogs "ALLETE" Moments: Competition
Throughout this year, UMD Athletics is partnering with Minnesota Power, ALLETE to highlight the Bulldogs accomplishments in the 3 C's: Classroom, Competition, Community.
Univeristy of Minnesota Duluth women's hockey freshman
Caitlin Kraemer picked up her second Western Collegiate Hockey Association monthly award in three months Wednesday when she was named the WCHA's Rookie of the Month for November.
The freshman from Waterloo, Ontario took home two weekly honors in November, including Tuesday -- her third total league honor already of the season. Kraemer had eight points in November, including five goals, and averaged 1.00 points per game through the eight games the Bulldogs played. UMD, which was 5-2-1 over that span, also got one shorthanded goal from the rookie, who also had five blocks. Kraemer rounded out the month with her first career hat trick last Saturday against the University of Vermont, figuring in five of UMD's nine goals in the offensive outburst.
Overall, Kraemer is tied for UMD-best eight goals and has a total of 12 points through the first 16 games of her college career.
Kraemer and the Bulldog will head to St. Cloud, Minn. this weekend to face No. 8/9 St. Cloud State University. The Friday-Saturday series gets underway at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
