UMD Bulldogs "ALLETE" Moments: Competition
Throughout this year, UMD Athletics is partnering with Minnesota Power, ALLETE to highlight the Bulldogs accomplishments in the 3 C's: Classroom, Competition, Community.Â
The National Collegiate Hockey Conference announced today that University of Minnesota Duluth men's hockey player Matthew Perkins is the conference's Rookie of the Week.Â
Last weekend in Omaha, Perkins scored twice, making up half of the team's goals in the series. The freshman forward also added a primary assist on Connor McMenamin's game-tying goal Saturday.Â
This is the second time this season Perkins has been named NCHC Rookie of the Week. Previously, he was honored for another three point performance. On Friday, October 20, Perkins had a goal and two assists in UMD's 4-0 win over Bemidji State University.Â
Perkins has tallied four goals and eight assists in his first 25 games with the Bulldogs, accounting for the second-most goals and second-most assists by a UMD men's hockey freshman this season.Â
The team will return in two weeks to take on the University of Denver at AMSOIL Arena on Friday, February 16 at 8:07 p.m. and Saturday, February 17 at 7:07 p.m.Â
